New, expectant, and hopeful parents don’t miss the Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Alabama Babypalooza Tour as it comes to Tuscaloosa.

Presented in Tuscaloosa by DCH Health System, Babypalooza provides a high-energy, family-friendly environment for parents to discover the plethora of resources available to them in the community.

The expo will feature baby and maternity exhibitors, interactive entertainment, shopping for the latest and greatest products and services and education and information.

Special attractions at Babypalooza include:

DCH Health System

-DCH Health System Women’s and Children’s Services
DCH will host displays for the Women’s Pavilion at Northport Medical Center and the Women’s Center at DCH Regional Medical Center.

-DCH Health System Lactation Services
Attendees will learn about the Lactation Department at DCH, which provides breastfeeding support to moms who have recently delivered, including infants in the Well Baby Nursery who are nursing and infants in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit whose mothers must pump to provide nutrition for their babies.

- University of Alabama Child Life Services
The University of Alabama Child Life Services will be on hand to describe their services. Child Life Specialists are available three days a week for patients on the Pediatric Unit, NICU and Emergency Department. Child Life Specialists are certified experts in the field of child development with a unique knowledge of children’s fears, stressors and reaction to hospitalization. At DCH a Certified Child Life Specialist and UA students provide preparation and coping techniques, and emotional support during invasive procedures. They also offer therapeutic play at the bedside and in the playroom.
