The March of Dimes was established by FDR to fight polio. The mission focus was shifted to premature birth and birth defects. Research breakthroughs have helped save thousands of babies.
We help moms have full-term pregnancies and healthy babies. If something goes wrong, we offer information and comfort to families. We research the problems that threaten our babies and work on preventing them. The March of Dimes helped to conquer polio by funding the research and development of the Salk vaccine. We have 75 years of accomplishments including surfactant therapy, folic acid campaign, AllKids insurance, newborn (30) screening test, and so much more.
